There are many types of headaches. Some common ones include;

Cluster Headache: These generally come in groups and can last up to a few hours. Many sufferers experience up to four of these per day.

Vascular Headache: Often produced by irritation and inflammation of the blood vessels in the brain. Common causes are infection, drugs, toxins and hormone imbalances.

Tension Headache: Pain originates from irritated soft tissues of the neck and head, muscles and connective tissues. These often produce “knots” in the muscles.

Migraine Headache: A neuro-hormonal-vascular phenomenon that can be very debilitating. These are generally caused by a complex interaction between the nervous system, the hormonal system and the supplying blood system. A “warning signal” is commonly experienced before the onset of pain and can include nausea, numbness, dizziness or visual disturbances.

Cervicogenic Headache: Pain originates from the neck due to things such as subluxations, muscle spasms and nerve irritation. One of the most common types of headaches and commonly relieved with Chiropractic care.

Although headaches are common they are not normal. If you experience any of the symptoms I would recommend you seek professional advice on the underlying cause.
