The path to glowing skin isn’t via a glossy make-up counter, it’s directly through your stomach. If you're not getting the right nutrients, skin gets cheated out of what it needs for optimal health and beauty. Here are some top dietary tips for glowing skin…

Consume Omega 3 Fatty Acids: The healthy fats known as omega-3s are crucial for healthy skin. Not only are they anti-inflammatory, but they also moisturize skin so it stays soft and supple and fine lines are less noticeable. Salmon, sardines, and mackerel are omega-3 powerhouses. For those who prefer not to eat fish, flaxseed and chia seeds offer a great alternative.

Ditch the Sugar: A diet high in sugar causes inflammation in the skin, and it also leads to glycation, a process that ages skin prematurely. Eliminating all forms of sugar from your diet is the obvious, though somewhat extreme, solution. But even reducing your consumption by limiting it to the sugars contained in fruit, for example, can help.

Consume Vitamin C Rich Foods: Vitamin C is crucial for collagen production which improves skin's elasticity and suppleness, keeping our skin looking young and fresh. Be sure to include in your diet vitamin C rich foods such as; berries, oranges, green leafy vegetables, capsicums, tomatoes and kiwifruit.

Consume Foods High in Antioxidants: Antioxidants help combat free-radical damage that contributes to the visible (and hidden) signs of aging. As antioxidants block the effects of free radicals, they end up being oxidized. This is why it's important to constantly replenish your supply of antioxidants. To achieve glowing skin, up your intake of antioxidant rich food such as; garlic, eggplant, carrot, broccoli and onion.

Live well, live long, live naturally
