TELL US WHAT YOUR MORNING LOOKS LIKE AS YOU ROLL OUT OF BED...WHAT HABITS OR RITUALS DO YOU HAVE THAT KEEP YOU ON TOP AND IN THE GAME?
I roll out of bed to general chaos as I have a baby and toddler and everyone wants Mumma before my feet have even hit the floor! To keep me on top of my game I’ve been placing more of a focus than usual on my mental well-being. The one habit I hold onto dearly in this really busy period of my life is tuning into my self-talk. I really try to see the positive in all situations and everyday wake up and make a concious decision to feel really grateful which sets me up in good stead for a good day! I also religiously take a small selection of supplements everyday. They change frequently depending on where I feel my body needs a little more TLC. At the moment, I’m taking a multi, evening primrose oil, probiotics, Co Q10 and magnesium powder.
WHAT DO YOU DRINK?
I drink herbal tea throughout the day but I love one good old-fashioned english breakfast tea with manuka honey in the morning to get me started. I’ll often follow this up with superfood smoothie that I’ve made for the family.
WHAT DO YOU EAT?
I mix up my breakfast all of the time. It can range from free-range eggs on gluten-free toast with avocado and dukkah (current fave!) to an acai bowl or homemade granola and organic yogurt. On the weekends, my husband and toddler usually make me gluten-free crepes. I’m usually starving by the time they’re finally served, but they’re worth the wait and I love the ritual.
HOW DO YOU MOVE?
I love yoga and walking and try to fit these into my day wherever I can. My all-time fave way to move is simply walking in nature, whether that be on the beach, through the bush or just through tree-lined suburbia. I generally don’t listen to music when I exercise as I like to listen to the waves, birds or silence around me.
DO YOU HAVE A PRACTICE OF STILLNESS OR QUIET?
I try to incorporate stillness and quietness into my daily activities rather than carving out special time for it. For example, I’ve gone totally Nanna on it and listen to classical music when I’m driving and it instantly makes me slow down, breathe and focus on my thoughts rather than the ‘to-do’s’ in my head.
